Over the years, I feel like I have built up a relationship with this lovely airline and the team has always gone out of its way to make me feel comfortable when I’ve been a passenger on board. Consider this my little tribute as I reminisce about our times spent together.

About Old Friends and New
The interesting thing about flying Vistara is that I always end up meeting people I know or seeing many familiar faces. There was this one time I remember while checking in, we suddenly realised there were so many artistes we knew on the same flight as us! And a few weeks back, I had the pleasure of meeting greats like the multifaceted Javed Akhtar and lyricist Prasoon Joshi. That’s what I find very exciting about travelling with this airline—you never know who you may run into unexpectedly.

Some meetings have a more personal and emotional component. My most recent flight booking on Vistara was a spur-of-the-moment decision. It took place one evening when I was in Mumbai and was missing one of my dearest friends from Delhi. So, in a very spirited fashion and quite impulsively, I booked her flight and flew her down for a much-needed catch-up. It was so nice. In a few days, I plan to fly Vistara again for some work. Who knows? I may meet someone again. Whether old friends or new acquaintances, it’s always great fun!

On Board Indulgences
Right from arriving at the check-in counter, everyone in the Vistara team operates with such a pleasant demeanour, making you feel welcome and ensuring that everything connected to the trip unfolds as smoothly as possible. Once I’ve settled into my seat in the cabin, someone from the crew invariably comes over and offers some lovely snacks to me as a gesture expressing how much they love my work. Absolutely nothing beats that feel-good vibe! It’s happened on every Vistara flight I’ve been on for the past few years.

Fantastic—that’s the one word that immediately comes to mind when I think of Vistara’s gracious cabin crew. So well-mannered, forthcoming, kind, and always attentive; their attention to detail is amazing, as well. And if you’re a Platinum Club Vistara member like me, they make sure to greet you, introduce themselves, and inform you that they will be taking care of you on the flight. And they’re so sharply dressed, too! I think the Vistara uniform is so chic and cool.

And I must mention the in-flight magazine. I had the pleasure of being featured in the July 2023 issue’s “Celeb Diary” section. That was a lovely experience. But whether I’m in it or not, I love picking it up to read the interviews of various personalities, as well as learn about different places, their history, and their tourism. I always find that very engaging to see and discover.

Mid-flight Munchies
I have enjoyed tucking into the absolutely delish food served on board—especially the dahi bhalla chaat served on afternoon flights (that’s the Delhi girl in me talking!), as well as the fresh beetroot salad that was sometimes part of the meals. Even the chickpea cutlets were lip-smackingly good. Their chicken meal is very tasty. And they also make these two amazing fish dishes: a South Indian-flavoured one and an Asian-style one, both of which I really liked.

Loyalty Begets Loyalty
I loved being a Club Vistara member and am going to miss that the most!
It has transformed the way I travel. And having such an innovative rewards programme is a big incentive to travel on Vistara.

Forever Flying High
I recently came across an Instagram post expounding on Vistara’s brand power. It really has been one of the strongest, most recognisable brands in India. They’ve stood by their brand ideology in such a synergistic way. Cool, classy, efficient—and always one step ahead of everyone else while operating in that premium realm. And the inclusion of business class cabins and premium economy were wonderful additions, too. Just perfect for when you want to splurge a little and give yourself a pat on the back for your hard work or treat yourself to a better, more spacious seat on a flight, whether domestic or international.
